Connecting to our Seniors Interactive Center – Girl Scout Troop 50622
Creating an area in the Columbus Community Center that will provide seniors with additional activity opportunities: games, books, puzzles, and computer(s) and printer.
Purchase operational supplies for the Food for Thought Backpack Program and hold a community food drive.
Purchasing additional playground equipment for Platte Center Elementary (also open to community on nights and weekends) specifically targeting students’ upper body strength as well as students with specific disabilities.
Purchasing a commercial washer and dryer for the Columbus Rescue Mission through this grant and additional fundraising.
Building shepherd’s hooks and planter boxes and fill with flowers for Columbus Housing Authority.
Learning Boxes – Platte Center Student Council
Creating a summer learning box (worksheets, flashcards, AR books and other tools) for the elementary students of Platte Center Elementary to take home for the summer to keep learning and improve their learning skills.
Making high-efficiency, low-cost laundry soap for the Columbus Rescue Mission and Center for Survivors to utilize.
The Following Projects Have Received Community Funding:
STEM Club – Cub Scouts/Boy Scouts (funded by Mr. Dick Casey)
Establishing a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Club through local Cub Scout and Boy Scout organizations, including a robotics program.
Smashing Stereotypes – “FEDDIES” (funded through a private grant from the Columbus Area Community Foundation Fund)
Putting on a presentation called “Smashing Stereotypes” at CMS and Lakeview to show that every person is unique and special.
Teen Dating Violence Awareness Week – Revolution Group (funded by First National Bank)
Handing out Teen Dating Violence Awareness Week t-shirts to CHS and Lakeview students on February for Teen Dating Violence Awareness Week, and encouraging students to post pictures of themselves to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, to spread teen dating violence awareness.
