The Columbus High School Key Club is all about service. It’s what they do. So, it was a natural fit for them to apply for a Youth Philanthropy Contest grant in order to better serve their community.
As a group, they discussed quite a few options before deciding on their ultimate project of providing “comfort bags” to children in the foster care system. In their application they stated they wanted to do this to “make [the foster children] feel a bit less out of place when they are being placed in new homes…. When kids are taken from their homes because of bad situations they sometimes do not have enough time to grab necessary items they would need in the place provided for them to stay. We will offer comfort bags that provides necessary items and comfort items as well to make the transition easier for both the family and the children”
