Providing for those in need was a family affair for the Loeffelholz family. The four oldest children worked together to provide school supplies to children not able to purchase all the items requested on their school supply list to start the school year in August. “Some children do not have these materials so need to rely on the teacher, or simply cannot perform some things the same way that other children can because they lack the materials,” they put in their application for a Youth Philanthropy Contest grant, which they were awarded.
With the funding, they provided school supplies for elementary children at all five CPS schools who could not afford to buy everything necessary to begin the school year, and provided additional supplies to teachers to have on hand throughout the year as children need them.
“All schools were extremely grateful,” said the Loeffelholz kids, “If we were to do it again, we would set up donation stations.”
