Platte Center residents are over joyed to have a new resource in their community thanks Makayla and Megan Coan. These two sisters used a 2015 Youth Philanthropy Contest grant to construct a “little library” in their community.
Since Platte Center doesn’t have a City Library, this Little Free Library is the next best thing. It gives everyone in town the opportunity to have access to a variety of books. They can keep, borrow, or trade these books.
Said the Coans: “”This project serves all age groups in the Platte Center community. It’s easily accessible. I believe the population of Platte Center is approximately 359 and the Little Free Library can pretty much serve each and every resident.
It will most definitely continue. We will do book drives to get books donated in order to rotate books in/out of the library.
The money we received from the youth philanthropy contest is truly appreciated. We’ve wanted to do this Little Free Library in Platte Center for a few years now, but never had the money to do it. Your monetary support made the “library” a reality! Thanks so much!”
